Whyalla City Council is keen to continue its work with local businesses by making them aware of contract opportunities across the next financial year.
Major opportunities for local contractors
Whyalla City Council is encouraging local contractors to become a preferred council supplier, better positioning them to benefit from work that will see nearly $30 million invested in improving the city’s infrastructure and community spaces.
Council is investing in a variety of projects and ongoing work – ranging from catering to construction – with many local businesses possessing the expertise that would make them ideal tenderers for these opportunities.
A spreadsheet of upcoming work has been created, outlining the skills required for each project / job, helping local contractors identify the work suited to their field.

Council’s commitment to local contractors
Whyalla Mayor Phill Stone is passionate about supporting local businesses and encouraging their participation in council-led projects.
“Council is committed to ensuring our local contractors are front and centre when it comes to new work opportunities,” Mayor Stone said.
“We want to see Whyalla’s businesses – big and small – thrive as part of our city’s ongoing development, so this is a great way to get involved.
" Your skills and expertise are essential to making Whyalla a more liveable city for current and future residents.”
Contractors should fill out council's preferred supplier form to ensure they are in the system and ready to go when they tender for work.
