Explore native flavours at Whyalla’s Nature Studio
Whyalla residents are invited to discover the flavours of Australian native ingredients when Country Arts SA’s Nature Studio comes to the city this October.
Held at the Mount Laura Homestead on Saturday, October 10, Nature Studio: Native Flavours will feature an interactive Australian Native Food Expo led by Nikita Charlton and Kelly Wallace.
The free event will give participants the opportunity to taste a selection of native-inspired foods and drinks, learn about the ingredients used and explore how native flavours can be incorporated into contemporary and everyday cooking.
Participants will also receive a small selection of native ingredients to take home, allowing them to continue experimenting with the flavours in their own kitchens.
Nature Studio forms part of South Australia’s Nature Festival program and will also bring creative events to Burra, Warooka, Port Lincoln and Naracoorte.
Country Arts SA Arts and Culture Manager Deb Myers said the program brought people together through creativity and the natural environment.
“Nature Studio is a wonderful opportunity for like-minded people to get together and explore creativity, artmaking and the natural environment,” Ms Myers said.
“It’s about community-building and connecting with nature, not about creating the perfect artwork.
“From experienced artists to someone picking up a sketchbook for the first time, everyone is encouraged to participate.”
