Mental Health Matters Round off to a strong start

The Whyalla community came together on Saturday for the 2026 Mental Health Matters Round - Netball, with players, families and supporters getting behind the important mental health initiative.

The event featured appearances from Adelaide Thunderbirds player Sophie Casey and Melbourne Mavericks player Kim Jenner, alongside a range of activities for the community. Players and supporters also wore custom dresses, bibs and vests created for the event, helping bring the Mental Health Matters message to the courts.

The day was a great opportunity for the community to connect, enjoy sport and show support for mental health awareness, with plenty of smiling faces throughout the day.

Mental Health Matters Round began in Whyalla in 2024 and has continued to grow, bringing local sporting clubs and community organisations together to raise awareness of mental health, encourage connection and support local mental health programs.

And the round is only just getting started, with events and activities continuing throughout August. There’s plenty more happening across the community, so be sure to check out the full program and find an event to get involved in.
