Take the Pledge

Take the Pledge

Did you know?

Recent bin inspections found that large amounts of waste in red lidded household waste bins, could have been recycled or composted.

Do you know what items can be recycled in your yellow lidded bin, or composted via your green lidded bin?

What is Take the Pledge?

The City of Whyalla implemented the Take the Pledge program in partnership with KESAB Environmental Solutions to encourage sustainable behaviour change, focusing on household waste and recycling. By signing up to Take the Pledge each household agrees to responsibly dispose of food waste and other organic material in the green bin and recyclables in the yellow bin.

What can you do?

Register to Take the Pledge and encourage other households to do the same. Together we can make a difference and in the process you could go in the draw to win monthly prizes.

All registered households will:

  1. Receive two stickers, one for yellow and one for green lidded bins to show you are committed to recycling and composting as much as possible.
  2. Each household can collect a kitchen caddy and a complimentary roll of compostable bags from Council’s new Civic Building on Grundel St  or from the Library, to start collecting food scraps & other compostable materials.
  3. Receive one ½ priced green waste dumping. (See Terms and Conditions - Prizes)
  4. Go into the monthly draw to receive 25L Peat’s Soil compost pack AND either your choice of a $25 voucher for Whyalla Garden Centre OR Whyalla Mitre 10

Residents can pick up a kitchen caddy and a complimentary roll of compostable bags from Council’s new Civic Office on Grundel St (former Eyre High School) or from the Library, to start collecting food scraps & other compostable materials.
