The Point Lowly dredging project will begin with the existing wharf at Point Lowly demolished. These works mark a significant step forward in the project and are being carefully managed to ensure safety for marine users and the surrounding environment.
Dredging works are scheduled to start February 13 (DELAYED), subject to suitable weather conditions, operational requirements, and final approvals. The dredging will be undertaken within the marina and surrounding areas, as shown on the attached map.

During the works, temporary fencing, access controls, and site facilities will remain in place for the duration of the project. There may be temporary impacts to marine activity and nearby access during active dredging periods.
Boat ramp users are advised that when transiting near the dredge barge, all instructions provided via radio communication by the dredge captain must be strictly followed at all times. Any damage caused as a result of negligence or failure to follow instructions will be the responsibility of the boat operator. The dredging contractor and Whyalla City Council will not be held responsible for damage resulting from non-compliance with safety directions.
Boat users are encouraged to refer to the attached posters and scan the QR code for detailed information, including radio communication instructions and updates throughout the project.
Dredging will occur in stages over the coming weeks, with further updates to be provided as timelines are confirmed.
