Point Lowly Dock Demolition

Whyalla City Council, in partnership with Maritime Construction Services, commenced the demolition of the Point Lowly Commercial Dock in April 2025. The condition of the existing breakwater arm was found to be inadequate and an alternate demolition plan is being developed.
Engineering inspections and reports have determined that the dock is beyond renewal, necessitating its removal. Project updates will be provided in due course.
Council has carefully planned these works to minimise environmental impact, and there will be no disruption to the cuttlefish or the Cuttlefest Events at the dive site during this period.
