Whyalla Visitor Centre wins Gold at the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards
South Australia’s finest tourism businesses were recognised over the weekend at the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards Gala, with the Whyalla Visitor Centre proudly taking home Gold in the Visitor Information Services category.
The Whyalla Visitor Centre is the beating heart of Whyalla’s tourism experience. The award acknowledges the centre’s commitment to exceptional service and dedication to showcasing Whyalla’s identity.

Mayor Phill Stone said the win reflects the professionalism and pride of the Visitor Centre team, “This recognition is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of our Visitor Centre team,” Mayor Stone said. “They embody the spirit of Whyalla, welcoming visitors with genuine hospitality and enthusiasm, and helping shape positive first impressions of our city and region.”
Visitor Experience Coordinator Ali Sanders said the team has worked to create a welcoming and memorable space for visitors, “We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised,” Ms Sanders said. “We’ve worked really hard to build a space that people want to visit, learn and explore. Our team loves this city, and we’re proud to deliver exceptional service every day.”
Events and Tourism Lead Jenny Barnes said the award highlights the Visitor Centre’s success but also the strength of the region’s tourism industry as a whole, “Our Visitor Centre team consistently goes above and beyond to create memorable experiences, and this Gold award confirms the impact they’re making on visitors from around Australia and the world,” Ms Barnes said. “We’re incredibly proud to stand alongside so many passionate operators across South Australia, congratulations to all the winners and finalists who continue to elevate our state’s tourism offering.”
As a Gold winner, the Whyalla Visitor Centre will now go on to represent South Australia at the Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held on 6 March 2026 in Fremantle, Western Australia.
