Artists are being invited to showcase their creativity as Whyalla City Council, in partnership with Whyalla Business & Tourism and Country Arts SA, launches the 2026 Cuttlefest Art Prize with $3,000 in prizes up for grabs. With Cuttlefest just around the corner the Art Prize is now open to all residents of Whyalla and closes on Friday 15th May 2026.
Teresa Coles, Community Activation Arts & Cultural Facilitator said ‘’It’s just two months before the closing date! I am really excited for the creative minds of Whyalla to showcase their talents throughout June and July. With fantastic categories including environmental, first nations and two youth categories. The ever-popular People’s Choice voting will take place throughout June at the Middleback Arts Centre. Residents and visitors to Whyalla are encouraged to enjoy the exhibition and place a vote for their favourite piece’.
The Art Prize is open to school groups and individual artists to create a 2D or 3D cuttlefish or other local marine based artwork. These artworks will be on display at the Middleback Arts Centre Foyer throughout June and July 2026.
The Exhibition Opening Night and Awards Night will be held on Tuesday 2nd June at the Middleback Arts Centre, and the community, artists and families are invited to attend. The Cuttlefest Art Prize offers an excellent platform to showcase your artistic skills, engage with the community, or even win a prize!
