Salty 'Sea'esta delivers spectacular start to Cuttlefest 2026

Several thousand people flocked to Ada Ryan Gardens on Saturday to celebrate the return of Salty 'Sea'esta, kicking off this year’s Cuttlefest.

The free community event delivered live entertainment, market stalls, food vendors, children's activities and community displays attracting locals and visitors throughout the day.

Mayor Phill Stone praised the success of the event and the team behind it.

"I have never been more impressed and prouder of a Council event at Ada Ryan Gardens," Mayor Stone said.

"The dedication, commitment and outstanding efforts of Ryan and her small team were responsible for such an outstanding event. Their professionalism, enthusiasm and passion ensured the community enjoyed an incredible Salty 'Sea'esta."

Mayor Stone also thanked the many Council staff, volunteers, performers, stallholders and community groups who helped bring the event to life, and to the community for showing up and making it a memorable day.

Blessed with perfect weather and atmosphere, Salty 'Sea'esta once again showcased the very best of Whyalla and provided a spectacular start to this year's Cuttlefest celebrations.
