Provide feedback on the Draft 2026/27 Budget through official channels

Whyalla City Council is encouraging residents to provide feedback on its Draft 2026/27 Annual Business Plan and Budget through official consultation channels, ensuring community input is properly considered.

The draft budget outlines council’s proposed services, projects and priorities for the coming financial year, with a focus on maintaining essential services, improving city amenity and progressing long-term financial sustainability.

As part of the consultation process, council is inviting residents to share their views but is reminding the community that feedback must be submitted through formal channels to be included in decision-making.

While social media platforms are valuable for discussion, comments made on these platforms are not considered formal submissions and will not be captured in the consultation process.

Community consultation for the draft budget is open from Thursday 30 April to Monday 25 May 2026, with multiple ways for residents to provide feedback.

Residents can provide feedback by:

  • Completing the online survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/XQN8YDZ
  • Attending community information sessions: Tuesday May 6 at 6pm or Wednesday 20 at 2pm, both at Mt Laura Homestead Conference Room
  • Attending our online / virtual community information session on Tuesday 12 May from 7pm via this link: https://whycc.au/3QZsL2Y
  • Making a verbal submission at a council meeting: Monday 18 May, 5:45pm at Council’s Civic Building
  • Submitting feedback via email or in writing: council@whyalla.sa.gov.au

Council CEO Justin Commons said community feedback plays an important role in informing council decisions, shaping council’s priorities and guiding the future direction of our city, “we want to hear from our community, but it’s important that feedback is provided through the proper channels so it can be formally considered.”

Council encourages all residents to take a few minutes to review the draft budget and provide constructive feedback through the appropriate channels. Using official consultation methods ensures feedback is documented and can directly influence council decisions helping deliver outcomes that reflect the needs and priorities of the whole community.
