Philled in: Mayor's March - April engagements highlight community connection and local opportunities
Mayor Phill Stone has continued a strong program of community engagement and regional collaboration throughout March and April, with a focus on connecting with residents and supporting local opportunities.
Mayor Stone said the past month had been a great mix of community, conversation and progress.
“It’s been a really good few weeks getting out and about, having conversations and seeing what’s happening across Whyalla,” Mayor Stone said.
“There’s a lot of positive work going on, and it’s always good to be part of those moments and share them with the community.”
Key highlights of engagements included:
- Sharing local progress, including a photo update on the restoration of the Flinders and Freycinet Lookout statues
- Exploring regional opportunities, attending a stakeholder lunch with Nicola Phillips from Adelaide University to discuss future opportunities for regional South Australia and Whyalla
- Keeping the community informed, through regular media engagement on the Triple Y Council Show, providing updates on Council projects and local initiatives
Mayor Stone said staying connected with the community and sharing updates remained a key priority.
“Whether it’s through events, meetings or media, it’s about making sure people know what’s happening and feel part of it,” he said.
Residents are encouraged to stay up to date through Council’s official communication channels, including updates from the Mayor’s Desk and the Whyalla News column.
