Only weeks left to nominate Whyalla’s community champions

Time is running out to recognise someone who makes a difference in Whyalla, with nominations for the 2027 Citizen of the Year Awards closing at 5pm on Friday 30 October.

October is the final month to nominate, and Whyalla City Council is urging residents to put forward the people whose contributions deserve recognition.

The message is simple: without nominations, there can be no award winners. The awards rely on community members taking the time to share the achievements of those who give back to Whyalla.

Whether it is someone who has volunteered for years or dedicated their time to a local club or community organisation, a nomination is an opportunity to acknowledge their contribution.

Residents are encouraged to think about who has made a positive impact and take the next step before the deadline.

With only a few weeks remaining, now is the time to help ensure Whyalla’s community champions receive the recognition they deserve.

Nominations close at 5pm on Friday 30 October 2026. For more information and to submit a nomination, visit Council’s nominations page.
