It's time to put in your float applications for this year's Christmas on the Avenue
Whyalla’s schools, sporting clubs, community groups, businesses and organisations are invited to help bring Nicolson Avenue to life, with float applications now open for the 2026 OneSteel Christmas Pageant.
The pageant will take place on Saturday, 21 November, travelling along Nicolson Avenue from Russell Street to Ekblom Street between 3pm and 4.30pm.
Following a record number of entries in 2025, organisers are hoping to welcome an even bigger and more colourful procession this year. Floats are central to the success of the pageant, creating the festive atmosphere, excitement and sense of community that local families look forward to each Christmas. The more floats that take part, the bigger and better the experience will be for the entire Whyalla community.
Participating in the pageant is also an opportunity for schools, clubs, businesses and community organisations to connect with residents, promote their group and celebrate alongside thousands of spectators.
Groups interested in participating are encouraged to begin planning their entries and submit their applications from the link below. Prospective entrants should review the pageant rules and criteria before completing the online float application form uploaded through the council website.
Christmas on the Avenue will continue after the pageant with the After Pageant Market at Civic Park from 4.30pm until 7pm. Coordinated by the Whyalla Show Society, the market will feature local makers and creatives, along with food and beverage vendors.
The Santos Community Christmas Carols, also coordinated by the Whyalla Show Society, will be held separately at Civic Park on Saturday, 12 December.
