Foreshore building tender open

Whyalla City Council is pleased to confirm the tender process is officially open to construct Whyalla’s new Foreshore Centre building.

The building will incorporate the Surf Life Saving Club and a kiosk, as well as a café open to the community.

Mayor Phill Stone said this was yet another opportunity for local businesses to get involved with a major council / community project.

“This is a multi-million-dollar project that could represent a major cash injection for local businesses during construction,” Mayor Stone said.

“Even if they don’t have the capability to deliver the entire project, I’d encourage them to check out the sub-contracting opportunities, as it incorporates everything from earthworks and electrical; to roadworks and construction.”

Mayor Stone said tenders for foreshore upgrades had been a major focus for council over recent months, with another announcement regarding the appointment of the lead contractor for the Splash and Play Plaza project expected within the next week.

“We know these developments have been a long time coming and we are really excited to now deliver these major developments, as projects of this significance don’t come around very often!” he said.

Local businesses can visit the SA Tenders and Contracts website for full details:

Businesses need to register with the site to download tender documents. Tenders close on Tuesday 4 August.

The upgrade has been made possible by $5 million in State Government funding.
