Children and families in Whyalla are set to benefit with the Flying Start Preschool Program officially commencing this week at Whyalla Early Learning Centre, providing a strong foundation for children in the year before school.

The Flying Start Program is a play-based preschool program designed to support children’s learning, confidence and readiness for school through engaging, child-focused experiences aligned with the Early Years Learning Framework.

Child Care Coordinator Christine Gourlay said the program focuses on helping children thrive while also meeting the needs of modern families.

“Flying Start gives children the opportunity to learn through play in a safe and supportive environment that builds confidence, social skills and independence,” Ms Gourlay said.

“It’s about setting children up for a positive transition to school while offering families flexible, full-day preschool options.”

The preschool program is delivered by qualified Early Childhood Teachers and experienced educators, operating 7.5 hours a day, five days a week, supporting working families and children who benefit from consistent routines.

Children enrolled in the program also enjoy a fully catered service, weekly yoga sessions and regular community-based experiences, including an intergenerational playgroup.

With strong enrolment numbers already in place, the Flying Start Program reflects growing community demand for high-quality, inclusive early learning opportunities in Whyalla.
