Community invited to have their say on updated Order Making Policy

Whyalla City Council is inviting community feedback on its updated Order Making Policy, now open for public consultation. As part of council’s regular four-year review cycle, the policy has been reviewed to ensure it remains effective, relevant and aligned with current legislation.

The Order Making Policy outlines how Council can issue and enforce orders under the Local Government Act 1999, helping to maintain a safe, healthy and well-managed community.

The recent review identified only minor updates, with no changes required to existing legislation. The policy continues to support council’s role in addressing hazards, protecting public safety and improving local amenity.

General Manager of Corporate Services Sue King said “Reviewing our policies regularly ensures we continue to make fair, consistent and transparent decisions that support the safety and wellbeing of our community.”

Community consultation will be open for three weeks, giving residents the opportunity to provide feedback before the policy is finalised.
