Community Grant supports next chapter for Whyalla Motorcycle Club

Whyalla City Council is pleased to announce the latest recipient of the Community Grants and Donations Program, with a grant awarded to the Whyalla Motorcycle Club to support its relocation project.

The local club has operated along the Lincoln Highway for more than 75 years, the grant will assist to establish a new home at Mullaquana Road.

Mayor Phill Stone said Council was proud to support a group that plays an important role in Whyalla’s sporting and community life.

“The Whyalla Motorcycle Club has been part of our city’s identity for generations, hosting events that attract riders from across South Australia and bringing visitors into our community,” Mayor Stone said.
“This grant helps ensure the club can continue providing opportunities while they transition to a new location.”

Manager City Activation Gail Rostig said the project demonstrated exactly what the Community Grants program aims to achieve.

“The grants are designed to support community groups that contribute to participation, wellbeing and local pride,” Ms Rostig said.
“Helping the club progress means they can move forward with confidence and keep their activities running for the community.”

This initiative offers two levels of funding, Donations between $100 and $500, and Community Grants between $501 and $5,000. The program backs a wide range of recreational, sporting and social projects that make a positive contribution to the city.

Applications for grants and donations are welcomed throughout the year, with multiple funding rounds providing opportunities for community groups to seek support when needed.
