Christmas on the Avenue set for 21 November
Whyalla has a date to look forward to, with Christmas on the Avenue returning on Saturday, 21 November 2026 for an afternoon of community celebrations featuring the OneSteel Christmas Pageant and after-pageant market.
The Christmas on the Avenue working group has chosen the November date to encourage more local schools and the broader education sector to participate before the end-of-year calendar fills up.
OneSteel Christmas Pageant float applications are now open, with organisers encouraging schools, community groups, sporting clubs, businesses and other organisations to register to be part of the annual celebration.
Event Coordinator Ryan Sutherland said the pageant continued to grow in popularity, attracting record numbers of entries in 2025.
"The pageant continues to be one of Whyalla's most anticipated community events and last year we saw a record number of entries take part,” Mrs Sutherland said.
“We’re looking forward to seeing the number of float entries increase, with some new and exciting floats to be showcased in 2026.”
Mrs Sutherland said organisers were also looking forward to partnering with the Whyalla Show Society, which will deliver the after-pageant market as part of the Christmas on the Avenue celebrations.
"We're excited to be working with the Whyalla Show Society to bring the after-pageant market to the community.” she said.
“Registrations are now open for stallholders as well as food and beverage vendors who would like to be part of this event. We encourage interested creative market stall businesses and food and beverage vendors to get in early and register so you don’t miss out."
You can find the applications here.
The Santos Community Christmas Carols will be held separately on Saturday, 12 December 2026, taking place three weeks later than Christmas on the Avenue. The separate dates will give residents two Christmas celebrations to enjoy.
