Bring your Christmas float idea to life

Applications are now open for the 2026 Christmas Pageant Float Incentive Program, giving Whyalla groups a helping hand to get their festive creations rolling.

Have you ever watched the Christmas Pageant and thought, “We could make a pretty good float…”? Well, this could be your year to give it a go.

Local businesses, schools, sporting clubs and community groups can now apply for financial support or supplies to help build and decorate a float for the 2026 Whyalla Christmas Pageant.

The incentive program, delivered by HOPE Whyalla, is designed to help cover costs associated with creating a float, including decorations, paint, props and other materials.

Whyalla City Council Events Coordinator Ryan Sutherland said the program has been very successful in the past supporting the creation of new and exciting floats.

“This year we want people to have a bit of fun with this and think big, bright and very Christmassy,” Ryan said.

“You don’t need to be a professional float builder – if you’ve got a fun idea and a group of people keen to get involved, we’d love to see what you can come up with.”

Applications are open now, closing Friday October 23- or before if funds are exhausted, giving successful groups plenty of time to get their floats ready for the Pageant on Saturday 21 November.

Groups interested in applying can find the incentive program application form here and further information at the Whyalla City Council Christmas Pageant webpage, or contact HOPE Whyalla at connect@hopewhyalla.com.au

So, if your group has been waiting for a sign to turn that Christmas idea into a float, now’s the time to make it happen!

The pageant float incentive program is made possible thanks to the generous support from Whyalla Business and Tourism, HOPE Whyalla and Whyalla City Council.
