Boat Ramp Upgrade progressing well and on track for mid-year completion

Whyalla City Council is pleased to provide the community with an update on the ongoing boat ramp upgrade, with works progressing well and the project remaining on track and within budget.

The upgrade, which commenced last year, is expected to be completed around the middle of the year, delivering improved access and functionality for local boaties and visitors.

Significant progress has already been made on site, including the installation of precast panels and piles, as well as the removal of old infrastructure such as pile-ons, the concrete platform, and outdated wooden decking. These works will pave the way for the installation of new floating pontoons, enhancing usability and safety at the facility.

Importantly, access to the boat ramp has been maintained throughout construction, with at least one ramp remaining available at all times to minimise disruption to users.

Project Manager Yusuf Khan said the project has been progressing smoothly, with key milestones being achieved as scheduled.

“Works on the boat ramp upgrade have been progressing well, and we’re pleased to see the project tracking on time and within budget up till now,” Mr Khan said.

“The installation of piles and precast panels marks a significant step forward, and the removal of older infrastructure will allow us to deliver a more modern and user-friendly facility for the community.”

“The next stage will involve placing large rocks to stabilise the area, preparing the site for the installation of new panels and bringing us closer to completion.”

Council thanks the community for their patience during construction and looks forward to delivering a significantly improved boat ramp for all to enjoy.
