2026 Mental Health Matters Round uniform competition now open
Whyalla City Council is inviting the community to get creative, with entries now open for the 2026 Mental Health Matters Round (MHMR) uniform design competition.
A highlight of the annual initiative, the competition gives residents the opportunity to design the uniforms that will be worn during this year’s Mental Health Matters Round. In 2026, the round will be delivered through soccer, continuing MHMR’s tradition of partnering with local sporting groups to promote mental wellbeing across the community.
Council will also host a series of drop-in design sessions, giving people of all ages and abilities the chance to connect, get creative and develop their ideas.
Wednesday 22 April and Thursday 23 April - Westlands Shopping Centre at 11:30am – 1pm
Community Activation Officer Chloe Fisher said the competition continues to be a standout part of the initiative.
“Every year we’re blown away by the creativity behind the designs,” she said. “The sessions are a great way to get involved, connect with others and share a positive message.”
Since its inception, MHMR has grown into a community-led initiative in Whyalla, bringing together sporting clubs, organisations and residents to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
Each year, the winning design is worn on the field, helping to share an important message across the community. Council encourages individuals, families, schools and community groups to get involved by attending a drop-in session or submitting their own design.
Competitions close May 8.
Hard copy designs templates are also available for pick up and drop off at Whyalla City Council Civic Building, headspace and Centacare.
