Whyalla Visitor Centre & Maritime Museum named Finalist in 2025 SA Tourism Awards
The Whyalla Visitor Centre & Maritime Museum has been announced as a finalist in the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards. As well as being in the running for an industry award, the centre is also eligible for the People’s Choice Award and is calling on the community to show their support by voting or leaving a review.
Events and Tourism Lead Jenny Barnes said this recognition reflects the Visitor Centre’s role in showcasing Whyalla and welcoming visitors to the region. “We are absolutely thrilled to be named a finalist in the 2025 South Australian Tourism Awards. This honour highlights the importance of our Visitor Centre and Museum, and the role they play in celebrating Whyalla’s unique stories and attractions. It’s not just about our facilities, but about our community who contribute to making these experiences so memorable.”
The awards submission process also gave the team the chance to reflect on their journey – looking back on where it all began, how far the centre has come, and the many improvements made along the way to enhance the visitor experience in Whyalla.
Winners will be announced on Friday, 7 November, but in the meantime the public can get involved by voting in the People’s Choice Competition, which is open until 5pm, Monday 13 October. Community support will help boost Whyalla’s chances of being recognised with this special award.
The Whyalla Visitor Centre & Maritime Museum invites residents and visitors to get behind them, celebrate this achievement, and continue promoting Whyalla as a tourism destination.
