Whyalla Public Library wraps up a big financial year of community activation
The Whyalla Public Library has had a huge year, supporting the community with a wide range of programs, services and outreach.
One of the highlights was the Community Outreach Service, which delivered up to 300 hand-picked items each month to 39 people in aged care or recovering at home. Thanks to the help of dedicated volunteers.
The library hosted Tech Essentials workshops held by Zoran from Libraries SA, which saw a large turn out and received positive feedback. The library also ran regular programs for all ages, including Story Time, Lego Club, Macramé, school holiday activities, and a growing STEM Club with coding and robotics.

Library Coordinator, Natalie Williams said “The engagement from the community this year has been great. We’ve loved having so many community members visit the library for all sorts of activities, and we can’t wait to continue making this space a special place for everyone to enjoy.”
Even with a short closure in March for new flooring and shelving, the library welcomed more than 16,000 visitors in just five months.
