Whyalla City Council supports local groups through Community Grants and Donations
Whyalla City Council is pleased to announce the latest recipients of its Community Grants and Donations Program, with grants awarded to RSPCA SA, Whyalla Scouts, Whyalla Bowling Club, and the Whyalla Primary School Combined Choir.
These local organisations will use the assistance to deliver valuable programs or upgrade equipment and facilities.
This initiative offers two levels of funding — Donations for amounts between $100 and $500, and Community Grants for amounts between $501 and $5,000.
The Whyalla Primary School Combined Choir will use the grant to support the coordination and hosting of Whyalla’s Regional Choir Festival – a major local event that brings together primary school students from across the region. The festival will include two live performances at the Middleback Arts Centre, interactive sessions with experienced trainers, and multiple collaborative rehearsals between schools.
Teacher and Choir Coordinator, Lauren Griffin said,
“Thanks to this support from council, we’ll be able to deliver the Whyalla Festival of Music 2025 – an event that brings together voices from across our local schools. It’s a great opportunity to celebrate young talent and deliver a memorable event for the community.”
The festival not only allows students to showcase their talents but also provides educational workshops. The grant will help cover essential delivery costs, such as rehearsal space and venue hire, transportation, materials and uniforms. Importantly, the funding ensures all students can participate equally, regardless of financial circumstances.
The community grants initiative backs a wide range of recreational, sporting, and social projects that make a positive contribution to the city.
Applications for grants and donations are welcomed throughout the year, with multiple funding rounds providing opportunities for community groups to seek support when needed.
