Secrets of Spencer Gulf exhibition at Whyalla Maritime Museum
The Whyalla Maritime Museum is inviting visitors to uncover the history and hidden wonders of one of South Australia's most unique natural landmarks with its latest exhibition — Secrets of Spencer Gulf.
Spencer Gulf holds a special place not only in South Australia but also in Australia's broader environmental and cultural story. This exhibition reveals lesser-known and surprising facts about the Gulf's formation, the evolution of its land and sea environments, ancient and modern marine life, and the stories of its people — from First Nations communities to early European explorers and the region's involvement in World War II.
Museum Curator Paul Mazourek said the exhibition offers something for everyone, "The Spencer Gulf is a place rich in stories, science, and culture," Mr Mazourek said.
"Visitors will be amazed by the historical events that have shaped this region over thousands of years."
The Secrets of Spencer Gulf exhibition is open daily throughout May from 10am to 4pm at the Whyalla Maritime Museum. Bookings are not required. Entry fee of Adult $17, Concession $14, Family $45 and Child $11.
