New Civic Park Playground Officially Opens
Whyalla’s keenly anticipated Civic Park Playground is now officially open, with families turning out over the weekend to enjoy and celebrate the opening of the new playground, enjoying free ice cream, a sausage sizzle and the chance to be among the first to play on the equipment.
This marks the first major upgrade to Civic Park in nearly 20 years and is one of the key projects delivered under the Whyalla Economic Stimulus Program.
Mayor Phill Stone said, “The kids’ laughter on the day says it all! It’s great to finally see this playground open and being enjoyed by our community.”
Shaped by input from more than 300 residents, the playground includes features such as a flying fox, in-ground trampoline and inclusive roundabout as well as perimeter fencing, rubber soft-fall surfacing, upgraded lighting, shaded seating, and all-abilities play equipment.
Council thanks everyone who attended, shared their ideas and helped bring this project to life.
Civic Park is open, ready and waiting so grab your hats, grab the kids and go enjoy the playground!
