Mitchell Quinn (McGee Street) Playground Upgrade Complete

The Mitchell Quinn Playground on McGee Street has been given a significant upgrade as part of Whyalla City Council’s ongoing playground renewal program.

Community consultation began late last year, with feedback sought from local residents and direct engagement with the Quinn family, who were in full support of the project. This important consultation ensured that the playground improvements respected its significance, while also providing new play equipment for children and families.

Mayor Phill Stone said council was proud to work with the Quinn family on this renewal. “The Mitchell Quinn Playground is a special place in our city, and I’m so pleased we could refresh it in partnership with the Quinn family. It’s a beautiful way to remember Mitchell, while also giving local families a space to enjoy together.”

The works are now complete, and the playground is officially open to the public. Families will notice a range of new play elements, these include:

  • Toddler train
  • Toddler carriage
  • 3-way seesaw
  • Climber
  • Play tower
  • Kaleidoscope play panel
  • Roller ball play panel
  • Sensory multi play panel
