Mr Oopy wowing the kids in with huge bubbles during the 2023 Australia Day Picnic, there will be plenty of kids entertainment during the picnic.
Get ready to celebrate!
09 January 2025
It’s almost time once again to celebrate Australia Day, with a host of free, family-friendly entertainment on offer at the Ada Ryan Gardens!
There’ll be a kids’ zone, onstage performers, roving artists, market stalls and a variety of food and drink offerings, with Mayor Phill Stone encouraging the entire community to come together and celebrate.
“This is a great opportunity to celebrate what we love about our city and its importance to our nation, while looking forward to what’s to come throughout the year,” Mayor Stone said.
“We know many people are still doing it tough, so it’s great for council to be able to offer another free event – filled with activities and entertainment – as well as a free bus service to help residents get to Ada Ryan Gardens from right across the city.
“We’ve already had some fantastic news to start the year with the blast furnace back up and running, and hopefully many more positive announcements to come, so let’s look forward to more reasons to celebrate in 2025.”
One of the big attractions will be the first-ever performance in Whyalla by ‘Mallet time’. Watch as Uno dazzles and delights the crowd with death-defying juggling, life threatening balances and audacious audience participation, all featuring mallets! ‘Mallet time’ is without a doubt one of the strangest and most original acts you will see.
Other attractions include bouncy castles and sumo suits; as well as local musicians Emma Taylor, Blush and Gavin Chandler; plus everyone’s favourite MC, Lucky Sam!
The event will be on Sunday 26 January from 12pm to 4pm, with families encouraged to bring picnic rugs and chairs.
