Fulton Hogan upgrades Civic Park Car Park as a gesture to Whyalla Community
Whyalla’s Civic Park car park has received a fresh new surface thanks to a generous contribution from Fulton Hogan, delivered as part of their involvement in the Whyalla Airport Runway Upgrade Project.
This initiative forms part of Fulton Hogan’s commitment to community engagement through the Local Span component of their operations—an approach that encourages contributions to the regions in which they work.
When seeking a local project to support, Fulton Hogan approached Whyalla City Council for recommendations. The Civic Park car park was identified as an ideal fit, complementing the revitalisation of the Civic Park playground. Resurfacing and bituminising works were carried out over two days this week, providing a brand new surface for the community to utilise.

“This is a great project for the community,” said Anthony Bray, Airport Runway Upgrade Project Manager. “It’s a really nice gesture from Fulton Hogan to give back to Whyalla, and the car park looks great.”
Fulton Hogan Project Manager Hayden Dutney said the project is a way to support the Whyalla community.
“We’re really pleased to be able to resurface the Civic Park car park which will complement the additional Civic Park revitalisation works. We hope the revitalisation works entice families and children to use the Civic Park all year round.
“We’ve had an overwhelming amount of support from locals who are really excited about the Airport Runway works, and this is just one of the ways Fulton Hogan are giving back to the community of Whyalla.”
As the revitalisation of Civic Park continues to take shape, council is inviting community members to help shape its next stage. Residents are encouraged to complete a short survey to select key elements for possible inclusion in the first stage of the playground upgrade and suggestions for future stages.
The survey closes at 5pm on Monday, 26 May.
