Final days to enter: design a Netball dress for Mental Health Matters Round

Time is running out to design a netball dress for Whyalla’s Mental Health Matters Round, with entries closing on Monday, 5 May!

This morning, Whyalla City Council visited Long Street Primary School to hold a session for designing the dress, and the response was fantastic, with plenty of entries coming in. Now, council is encouraging more students, schools, and community groups to get involved before the competition closes.

"It was fantastic to see how excited and engaged the students were this morning," said Chloe Fisher, council’s Youth Activation Officer.

"This round is all about raising awareness for youth mental health. We’d love to see even more schools and community groups take part before entries close!"

The competition invites participants to incorporate this year’s theme, “Mental Health Matters – on and off the court”, and include either “Mental Health Matters Round” or “MHMR” somewhere in their design. The winning artwork will be worn by players during the netball round, with winners also receiving a $50 voucher and a custom netball dress featuring their design.

Designs can be submitted through schools, community groups, or individually by dropping them off at Whyalla City Council or headspace Whyalla.

The Mental Health Matters Round is quickly becoming one of Whyalla’s biggest youth mental health events. Last year’s event featured hundreds of attendees, appearances by AFL stars Rory Sloane and James Podsiadly, custom guernseys, and live music. Exciting new special guests for this year will be announced soon!
