Christmas on the Avenue returns to Whyalla this November
Whyalla’s much-loved Christmas on the Avenue event is back with the event set to take place on Saturday, 29 November.
Festivities will kick off with the OneSteel Christmas Pageant along Nicolson Avenue, before celebrations continue in Civic Park with the After Pageant Fair and Community Christmas Carols, coordinated by the Whyalla Show Society.
This year’s event is being delivered by a collaborative working group made up of local organisations and there’s still room for more. Businesses and community groups interested in playing a role are encouraged to get involved. If you're interested contact Councils Event Coordinator, Ryan Sutherland ryan.sutherland@whyalla.sa.gov.au or phone 8640 3444.
Float applications are now open, with the introduction of the new online entry form. Individual participant forms will also need to be completed. These can be downloaded here and returned to the Float Organiser for submission.

Events Coordinator Ryan Sutherland encouraged locals to start planning their entries early.
“We’re excited to announce that float applications are a now open and we’re looking forward to seeing entries start rolling in. We are also pleased that we have been able to work with the Whyalla Show Society to bring the event forward slightly in the year, which gives schools a better chance to get involved, along with our businesses, clubs and organisations."
“Last year there was an increase in float entries which really elevated the pageant and with the earlier date we’re hoping to see even more creativity on show as floats travel down Nicolson Avenue. The more floats we have, the more fun the pageant is, so start planning your entry and be part of the 2025 Christmas on The Avenue event.” Ms Sutherland said.
