Funding opportunity for sport and recreation clubs affected by drought

Sport and recreation clubs in Whyalla impacted by drought now have an opportunity to secure funding support through the newly announced Active Club Program (ACP) – Regional Drought Relief Round.

The program, delivered by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR), is designed to assist clubs across South Australia that are experiencing the effects of prolonged drought.

The ACP aims to improve the capacity of active recreation, sport, and recreational fishing clubs to deliver inclusive programs and services that contribute to community health, wellbeing, and social connection.

Funding of up to $5,000 is available, with the amount determined by club size:

  • Clubs with fewer than 100 members: up to $1,500
  • Clubs with 100–300 members: up to $3,000
  • Clubs with more than 300 members: up to $5,000

This funding is intended to cover essential service costs that support participation and help clubs offer affordable and accessible opportunities for locals to stay active during tough conditions.

The application process is simple:

Applicants are encouraged to submit early, as incomplete applications may not be assessed, and changes after submission may not be accepted. For amendments, contact ORSR via email at ORSR.Grants@sa.gov.au.

Applications close at midday on Wednesday, 28 May 2025.

For further guidance or to withdraw an application, clubs can contact the ORSR team at the above email.
