Ada Ryan Gardens Basketball Court set for upgrade
Work has begun at Ada Ryan Gardens in preparation for an upgrade to the popular basketball court. The project will deliver a refreshed playing surface, ensuring the community can continue enjoying the facility for years to come.
Early preparation works commenced recently, with Whyalla Earthworks undertaking the removal of sand from the south-western end of the former sand volleyball court and replacing it with crushed concrete. During these works, access to the basketball court is closed until completion.

The first stage of the basketball court upgrade will occur between Friday, 12 September and Monday, 15 September, when the old playing surface will be removed and replaced with a new asphalt layer. Following this stage, the courts will reopen for approximately four to six weeks while the asphalt cures.
A final closure will then be required for around one week to install the new playing surface and line markings. The full refurbishment is expected to be completed by the end of the year.
Project Manager Sam Bourne said the works will provide a much-needed improvement to the facilities, “This project is about ensuring the Ada Ryan Gardens Basketball Court remains high-quality space for our community. We understand there will be some interruptions while works are underway, but once complete, players will enjoy a much-improved surface that will last for many years to come,” Mr Bourne said.
