Whyalla's Jaxon King awarded Trainee of the Year
Council is proud to announce that Jaxon King has been named Regional Development Australia Eyre Peninsula Trainee of the Year in recognition of his outstanding achievements and dedication as part of council's depot team.
Jaxon joined council's depot team as a Horticulture Trainee earlier this year after a merit-based selection process. His traineeship, made possible through a partnership between Whyalla City Council and CEG, has allowed him to gain hands-on experience across multiple aspects of horticulture.
Jaxon's commitment and willingness to learn have made him a valuable member of our team," said Open Spaces Coordinator Tracy Robertson. "He’s incredibly intelligent, with great aptitude and adaptability. This traineeship has been instrumental in helping him integrate into a diverse workplace, and this recognition is a testament to his hard work and dedication."
Jaxon King expressed his gratitude for the support he received during his traineeship, saying, "I'm incredibly thankful to everyone at the Council and CEG who guided me along the way. I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved."
As part of his Certificate training, Jaxon has worked with several crews within the horticulture team. Starting with the irrigation crew, he helped maintain efficient water management systems as part of maintaining a green city. Later, he joined the mowing crew, learning essential maintenance and landscaping techniques and currently, Jaxon is building expertise with the tree crew, developing his skills in tree maintenance.
