Waste Education for local students
Recently, our Waste Officer - Graduate, Charuka Sanduni conducted a session for grade 7/8 students from Sunrise, Samaritan College and Whyalla Secondary College.
The session discussed waste education, what goes in the right bin and the importance of food and organic waste in green bin. After the presentation, students got the chance to sort through some rubbish and place it in the right bin.
This session was part of the GFG foundation project (in collaboration with CSIRO).
This is also a timely reminder that Council utilises the services of Bedford to manage the booking / pick-up service of hard waste, over the last month Bedford have had an increased number of hard waste pick ups booked - this is great to see!
If you'd like to book yours simply call them on 8647 7711 to lock in a date, they’ll let you know the requirements, then put the waste out the night before your confirmed date, it’s that easy! Check out our update here for all the details: https://bit.ly/3YJZuLq
Be sure to pass this information on to friends / family / neighbours to help ensure everyone is aware of the processes for minimising waste and helping keep our streets tidy.
