School Holiday Fun in Full Swing
The first week of school holidays has brought fun and excitement across Whyalla, with plenty of activities to keep kids entertained. From creative sessions to challenges, there’s something for everyone – and it’s not over yet!
Youth Activation Officer Chloe Fisher shared her enthusiasm “It’s been fantastic to see so many young people and their families getting involved and enjoying what Whyalla has to offer this school holidays. There’s still plenty to come next week, and we can’t wait to see even more smiling faces!”
This Week’s Highlights:
- Amazing Race:
In celebration of headspace Day, headspace Whyalla hosted an Amazing Race at Ada Ryan Gardens. Families raced through various challenges like giant Jenga, rock painting, and basketball, concluding with a sandcastle competition and free BBQ. The theme for the day was pause, reflect, reconnect, encouraging everyone to slow down and enjoy the moment. - Paint the Ship:
Kids had the chance to get creative by painting their interpretation of the iconic HMAS Whyalla and got to take their masterpieces to share with family and friends. - Road Safety Centre Sessions:
Led by local police officers, these sessions taught children essential pedestrian and cycle safety. With a mix of classroom and practical activities on the centre’s mock roadway, the sessions focused on teaching road rules while having fun. - Rec Centre Fun:
Families headed to the Whyalla Rec Centre for multiple sessions of pool fun, sports, and activities, including a jumpy castle, play café, and stadium games.
