Open Spaces team report available now
Are you interested in finding out more detail about the work our Open Spaces team have done across the community? Then look no further than this month’s Ordinary Council Meeting agendas!
Every month, Whyalla City Council’s various departments provide reports to show councillors and the community a summary of their works. These reports serve as invaluable resources, providing a comprehensive overview of progress made and the vision for Whyalla's continued development.
Mayor Phill Stone encourages the community to read these reports.
‘’People often state that they’d like to hear more about what Council does. Well, there’s no better way to keep up to date than reading these detailed reports that are produced every month and are publicly available in the Ordinary Council Meeting agendas,’’ Mayor Stone said.
‘’This month’s report from the Depot staff shows the hard work they put in to maintain our city. These works can often go un-noticed, so the report provides a valuable summary that enables everyone to see the amount of work undertaken.’’
The report provides details on works carried out by the depot staff such as landscaping, irrigation, community event support, weed control, laneway clearing, road reserve maintenance and waste initiatives.
During the last quarter, key work included preparing Bennet and Memorial Ovals for the upcoming football season;
and mowing 69 zones, including medians, reserves, and verges around Whyalla. The city is divided up into 40 zones (click agenda to view map) which are maintained by three teams.
The Depot administration team have also received 661 customer requests and have addressed 591 of these during the first quarter of 2024. For the same period last year, there was a total of 591, with 472 closed. This shows an increase of incoming customer requests of 12% overall for the same period, with a corresponding increase in responding to requests of 25%.
