Dive into Whyalla City Council's reports
Are you interested in finding out more detail about the work Whyalla City Council does across the community? Then look no further than your monthly Ordinary Council Meeting agendas!
Each month, various Council departments prepare detailed reports concerning ongoing works and projects, ensuring the community remains informed of Council's current priorities and achievements.
Mayor Phill Stone strongly encourages residents to read these reports, which offer insights into Council’s various initiatives,
“These reports serve as invaluable resources, providing a comprehensive overview of progress made and the vision for Whyalla's continued development,” Mayor Stone said.
“People often state they’d like to hear more about what Council does. Well, there’s no better way to keep up-to-date than reading these detailed reports that are produced every month and are publicly available in the Ordinary Council Meeting agendas.”
At the January Ordinary Council Meeting, the monthly information report focused on Open Spaces, Civil Works, Waste, and Environment and Climate.
One of the key focuses of the report was the processing of customer requests by the Depot Administration team. The past three months saw 759 customer requests received, with the team addressing 676 of these. The majority related to curbing, footpaths, trees, and weeds. This reflects a 48% increase compared to the same period last year, with a notable improvement in response rates achieved.
A significant improvement resulting from a customer request was the installation of dedicated disability-compliant car parking at Bennett Oval and the Whyalla Recreation Centre. These upgrades, comprising a total of 18 disabled car parks and numerous seniors and 'parents with pram' parks at the Recreation Centre, aim to ensure safer access for all community members.
