Child Care Centre works continue

Whyalla City Council’s Child Care Centre expansion continues to take shape, with significant progress made in recent weeks.

The framework is now complete – with the roof framework going up this week – giving an idea of the scale of the upgrade.

Next up will be the installation of services and cabling, followed by lining of the building and installation of roof sheeting.

The project aims to provide a modern facility that offers far more space, while ultimately aiming to cater for more families to help address the current shortage.

The upgrade was made possible thanks to $448,250 from the Australian Government Department for Education through the Community Child Care Fund Program under the Open Competitive Round 3 grant opportunity. Council is matching the grant with a dollar-for-dollar investment (a requirement of the funding criteria).

As mentioned in previous updates, please be mindful of the alternate access during the project and the changed conditions across the Child Care Centre site and surrounds.

Anyone with specific queries can contact the centre on 8645 4030.
