The awards recognise individuals and groups who have made a noteworthy contribution during the past year, as well as acknowledging previous achievements and ongoing contribution over and above their normal employment duties.
To help inspire the community to get nominating, we’ve been chatting with this year’s award recipients, with the latest being Eyre Gymnastics.
The club was recognised earlier this year by the community for their incredible three day gymnastics competition in 2023, that brought in hundreds of visitors from all over South Australia.
Eyre Gymnastics President Cherie Hubner said it was humbling to be recognised for something they enjoy so much, and that nominating others in the community is incredibly important.
“It's rewarding to see the kids improve and to see the kids feel happy about themselves…It was something that they couldn't do and they wanted to do and they worked really hard and they were able to achieve it. That's rewarding as a coach,” Cherie said.
“I think there's lots of clubs and lots of people out there who do lots of stuff for the community…So it's really nice for everybody just to be aware of what those people are doing to make our community a better place.”
There are numerous awards you can nominate community members for, including:
· Citizen of the Year
· Senior Citizen of the Year
· Young Citizen of the Year
· Community Service
There’s sure to be someone you know who deserves a nomination, so get online now and ensure they’re recognised in 2025!
