Acting Mayor David Knox and Waste Officer Graduate Charuka Sanduni preparing for Clean Up Australia Day this March
Step Up to Clean Up this Clean Up Australia Day
Whyalla, it’s time to step up to tidy up this Clean Up Australia Day.
The Whyalla City Council will be hosting a registration site at Wilson Park on Sunday 5 March 2023 from 10am – 1pm, making it easy for as many locals as possible to get involved in improving the look of our great city.
Whyalla City Council Acting Mayor David Knox said that he hopes the community will get behind this year’s Clean Up Australia Day efforts.
“We are encouraging our locals to come along and help pick up the rubbish around our streets and parks,” Acting Mayor Knox said.
“Clean Up Australia Day is a great reason for our community to get together, celebrate community pride and play an important role in helping to tidy up our city.”
Registrations will be open from 10am, with participants encouraged to come down with their gloves, wearing enclosed shoes, pick up their rubbish bag and tell the registration team the area they have chosen to clean up.
At the conclusion of the clean-up, registered participants are asked to return to Wilson Park to dispose of the rubbish in the skip bins provided and enjoy a FREE sausage sizzle & drinks thanks to Azzopardi Butchers and the Royal Flying Doctor Service.
Along with the Council event, there are other clean up events taking place around our city.
The Lions Club of Whyalla Inc are hosting a clean-up event on Sunday 5 March from 9am – 10.30am on Iron Knob Road and Arthur Glennie Drive. The community is asked to meet at the carpark on the corner of Iron Knob Road and Arthur Glennie Drive.
And if you are a business or school, you can get involved too, hosting your own Clean Up Australia Day event. Visit the Clean Up Australia Day webpage for more information and to register your own event.
Registrations can also be completed prior to the event, by visiting Clean Up Australia - Wilson Park - Whyalla (cleanupaustraliaday.org.au)
