FREE Cuttlefest community events this weekend!
04 July 23
Excitement is beginning to build for a weekend of FREE events to celebrate Cuttlefest 2023.
This weekend will be accessible for the entire community, with FREE entry, FREE entertainment, FREE activities and a FREE bus service for Saturday’s event, so be sure to get involved!
The weekend kicks off with Illuminart: Light Up HMAS Whyalla from 5.30pm on Friday 7 July, followed by the Salty Sea‘esta twilight market from 3pm on Saturday 8 July.
Mayor Phill Stone encouraged residents to check out the variety of events and performers across the weekend.
“We realise not everyone is interested in swimming with the cuttlefish, so this is Council’s way of providing a way for the entire community to get involved in Cuttlefest,” Mayor Stone said.
“Friday night will be a rare opportunity to see the HMAS Whyalla becoming a gigantic projector screen; while Saturday will feature entertainment for young and old, including live performances on the main stage and a host of workshops and activities right across the gardens.
“And don’t forget to take advantage of the free bus service running across Saturday afternoon and evening, ensuring people from across the city are able to enjoy the festivities.
“A special thank you to the excellent effort of our staff to pull these events together, as well as all of our sponsors, who have enabled us to offer so much variety free of charge to the community.”
Gates open at 5.30pm on Friday night for the Illuminart event, with the projection screening from 6.30pm – 8.00pm. Bring along a chair, torch and rug up with a blanket. Food and drinks will be available for purchase, or BYO.
While on Saturday, the Salty Sea’esta will see Ada Ryan Gardens come alive between 3pm-9pm – check out the program below for the bumper line-up of activities!
And of course, don’t forget to head to whyalla.com to check out all the Cuttlefest activities happening throughout July and August.
