FREE Community Screening

Looking for something to do this weekend now Christmas on the Avenue is postponed due to wet weather? Why not enjoy a FREE movie in the shelter of the Middleback Arts Centre. We've partnered with Country Arts SA to offer this free screening to provide something for families to do this weekend while waiting patiently for Christmas on the Avenue on 20 December. Check out all the details below.

Christmas on the Avenue POSTPONED

Due to the high likelihood of heavy rain predicted across the weekend and the risk it poses to electrical equipment and floats (and the likelihood of significantly reduced crowd numbers), we have unfortunately had to make the difficult decision to postpone Christmas on the Avenue. The show must go on though, with the event now scheduled for Wednesday 20 December from 6pm, with the Community Carols starting at 7.30pm.

Being mid-week, we understand this may unfortunately not be suitable for everyone. However, due to the extremely short notice at this late stage of the year, this is the only date we can make work due to many factors, including availability of equipment, participants etc. We’re hoping the later start time (given it's now on a work day) and the fact it will be school holidays will still allow most people to attend. The later start time is also aimed at minimising the impact on businesses in the road closure area. We’ll continue to provide further updates over the coming days – stay tuned!

Hydrogen Jobs Plan

Our Council Members visited the site of the Hydrogen Jobs Plan for the first time recently, hosted by the Office of Hydrogen Power SA. This included a briefing on the location and next steps for the project. It also coincided with the State’s Hydrogen and Renewable Energy Bill passing both Houses of South Australian Parliament, enabling the state to capitalise on its abundant wind and solar and underlining our status as a global clean energy leader.
