Outdoor Crew

The Open Spaces team is always out and about, keeping the city green and clean, just like Adam here, spotted doing an amazing job on the mower over on Kirwan Street, or see Steve, Aaron and Matt from the tree team in the McDouall Stuart / Cartledge Avenue roundabout planting a large number of Tuckeroos!  If you see the team around the city please give them a wave!

Student grants

Mayor Phill Stone and our Chief Executive Officer Justin Commons, joined by UniSA Regional Manager Paul Havelberg, recently presented two students from UniSA's Whyalla Campus with Whyalla City Council Student Grants. The award recipients were Gail Carr, studying a Bachelor of Primary Education (Honours), and Jessica Liddle, Bachelor of Nursing. The grants are awarded to two full-time students, commencing undergraduate study at the UniSA Whyalla Campus who have resided in Whyalla (or in close proximity to Whyalla) during year 12, or in the six months prior to lodging an application to study at UniSA. Find out more here: https://bit.ly/44ACu1A. We congratulate Gail and Jessica and wish them well in their studies

Max Services Academy

A lack of skilled workers in our region has led Port Augusta crane operator Max Services to start an academy, aimed at creating an uplift in industry across South Australia, while giving regional job seekers valuable skills to help them enter the workforce. The company - founded in 2002 as Max Cranes with three cranes and four staff - has grown to become a major regional employer with 250 staff, 90 cranes, 13 prime movers, 34 trailers and six depots. If you're looking for an opportunity to gain skills and enter the industry, check out the article below, or head to Max Services' website: https://maxservices.com.au/
