My Local Services

This week, the civil crew has been hard at work all around town, with Simon here seen on the bobcat at the intersection of Duncan Street and Beerworth Avenue. The team was milling the road to even out the surface, which had been raised by a tree root.

Reminder, if you notice damaged infrastructure or an issue that requires Council attention or consideration, you can report this through the My Local Services App (MLS). The App is FREE to download and easy to use, right there, on the spot, on your phone. You can even upload a photo straight away and send a pin-drop of the exact location. To find out more about the My Local Services (MLS) App head to the website https://www.whyalla.sa.gov.au/services/mylocalservices

Foreshore Revegetation Program

The Open Spaces team has been hard at work and committed to keeping our coastline healthy, recently planting 400 more tubestock of coastal vegetation as part of Council's Foreshore Revegetation Program. The vegetation provides valuable food and habitat for local native animals, including the birds, lizards, insects and aquatic species. The vegetation will also help to stabilise the dunes and protect the infrastructure. We encourage you to watch the video of Sam talking about the Council Sand Replenishment Program, which includes Sam talking about the importance of the vegetation along our foreshore. https://bit.ly/3qUUDVG

CFS survey

The SA Country Fire Service (CFS) is seeking to understand bushfire preparedness attitudes in the lead-up to the 2023/2024 Bushfire Danger Season. Through the Bushfire Archetype Survey, one of the biggest of its kind, the CFS will tailor bushfire preparedness messaging to the unique needs and beliefs of our diverse communities. The plan is to rethink how we communicate preparedness messaging and move away from a one-size-fits-all approach.

Preparedness attitudes and beliefs will be gathered from thousands of South Australians across the state with the purpose to ensure public messaging and community engagement is meaningful to all communities and inspires action.

The survey closes at 5pm TODAY (Friday 14 July).

Help keep SA communities safe by sharing your attitudes towards bushfires. Together, we can be ready for bushfire emergencies. Complete the survey here: https://bit.ly/3NFIaQT
