Child Care Centre works underway
11 October 2023
Whyalla City Council’s Child Care Centre expansion is underway, with local builder Steve White commencing on-site works.
The project aims to provide a modern facility that offers far more space, while ultimately aiming to cater for more families to help address the current shortage (read the full detail here).
Given the scale of works, alternate access to the facility will be required throughout the project. Anyone needing to access the centre will need to park in either of the Leisure Centre car parks and follow the paths to the rear of the centre (refer to the map below).
Sections of the footpath around the centre that are publicly accessible will also be impacted (see map and image), however alternate routes will continue to be available.
Council will provide updates as the project progresses over the coming months. Anyone with specific queries can contact the centre on 86454030.
The upgrade was made possible thanks to $448,250 from the Australian Government Department for Education through the Community Child Care Fund Program under the Open Competitive Round 3 grant opportunity. Council is matching the grant with a dollar-for-dollar investment (a requirement of the funding criteria).
(The footpath below will be inaccessible after construction begins)
