It’s time to take flight with the Whyalla ‘Wings’ Airport Open Day on Saturday October 29 from 1pm – 5pm.
Whyalla City Council Mayor Clare McLaughlin said council was thrilled to be presenting the Whyalla Wings Airport Open Day event for the community.
“We’ve seen the terminal upgrade and airside works completed, now it’s time to open this exceptional facility with a free community event for all to enjoy,” Mayor McLaughlin said.
The day will kick off with the foreshore flyer over by the Grumman Avenger WWII Bomber at 12pm, followed by the official event beginning at 1pm at the Whyalla Airport.
Featuring Paul Bennet Airshows, you’ll see the Grumman Avenger, Wolf Pitts Pro and Edge 540 on the ground and in the air, with Paul Bennet and Glenn Graham showing off their world-leading aerobatic manoeuvres.
“We’re really looking forward to coming to Whyalla, checking out the new facilities and performing our aerobatic manoeuvres for everyone to enjoy,” Paul Bennet said.
It’s FREE entry, with a number of free and paid activities, including food stalls, helicopter rides, plane displays, music and dance, kid’s zone and plenty more to keep the whole family entertained.

- Only those over 10 years of age are eligible to win the prize - proof of age may be required.
- Entry in the draw is limited to one entry per person, not one per registration/ticket.
- Entries are only valid via registration though the Eventbrite ticketing system of this event.
- Draw closes at 3.00pm on Saturday 29th October 2022.
- The winner will be randomly drawn from an electronic generator on Saturday 29th October 2022 at the Whyalla Airport Whyalla - Wings Event.
- The winner must be present, in person, at the time of the draw (4.15pm on Saturday 29th October 2022) to claim the prize. If the winner is not present a redraw will take place.
- The winner must be available on Sunday 30th October at 9.00am to redeem their prize and take their FREE flight in the Grumman Avenger.
- The value of this flight is not redeemable for cash or transfer.
- If the initial winner does not meet the above criteria a redraw will take place.
