COVID–19 Support Fund
City of Whyalla Mayor Clare McLaughlin has welcomed the South Australian support package for businesses impacted by the recent COVID restrictions put in place from 27 December 2021.
"Local hospitality and tourism businesses have been on a roller coaster ride of late as this emerging sector of our local economy was getting back on its feet from Covid-19 and now must deal with the fall out of a fast spreading variant" Mayor McLaughlin said.
"Government grants will go some ways to keeping local SME’s afloat" Mayor McLaughlin said.
Justin Commons, CEO of City of Whyalla Council, is urging local tourism and hospitality businesses adversely impacted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and recent restrictions put in place by the South Australian government, to go to the State Government’s tourism website and treasury web portal to see if they are eligible for financial assistance.
"These are very trying times as restrictions continually shift and growing community concern keeps many at home, due to the rapid spread of the Omicron variant." Mr Commons said
"We all need to continue to find ways to support our local businesses and use common sense to protect our individual health and the health of all Whyalla residents, including those visiting" Mr Commons said.
