$675 RAISED FOR RONALD MCDONALD HOUSE CHARITIES

cccredandyellow

Mitchell and Ruby centred with their friends from the Whyalla Childcare Centre.

Through the initiative of the Whyalla Child Care Centre, we recently held a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) leading into McHappy Day.

Twins Ruby and Mitchell and parents Fiona and Jason - a family who currently attend the Childcare Centre and use the RMHC, like many in our community - approached the Childcare Centre staff about fundraising to help give a little back.

While raising money throughout the week, the children and staff dressed in red and yellow and, as you can see by their smiling faces, everyone had fun!

Overall, $675 was raised to help out many families at the RMCH.

NEW SEDI SEAT INSTALLED

sediseat

Customer Service team member Maggie is loving the new seat, charging her phone while taking a break from working in the VIC pod.

As part of the adopted Foreshore Master Plan's focus on modernising the foreshore, a brand-new piece of modern street furniture has been installed in front of the new Visitor Information Centre pod.

As well as providing a shaded seat, this modern piece has integrated solar battery technology so you can charge your phone wirelessly or via USB!

If you happen to walk past in the evening, you will see it lit up just like our jetty, so be sure to check it out!

SPECIAL DELIVERY – ABORIGINAL ARTEFACTS

Last week Uncle Barry Croft, Barngarla Elder, on behalf of the Barngarla People, donated a number of ancient Aboriginal artefacts (hunting and returning boomerangs, throwing sticks, stone tools and spearheads) from Kingoonyah and Iron Knob areas to the Whyalla Maritime Museum.

These artefacts are now on display at the permanent Barngarla exhibition ‘Singing to the Sharks’.

This is an extremely valuable donation by the Barngarla People to the Whyalla City Council, so we thank them for their generosity and for enabling us to share this rare collection with the community and visitors
