Facility improvements for Point Lowly Campground

The Point Lowly Campground has received an exciting new upgrade. A brand-new shelter with solar panels has been erected to accommodate two barbeques and two picnic tables with phone charging capabilities.
This new addition should greatly improve the visitor experience to the area.
This project was initiated by the Point Lowly Ratepayers Association with a request to council and installation was completed by Specialised Solutions.
In addition to the installation of the shelter, new post and chain fencing is being installed in the area.
The post and chain fencing will provide clear access to areas that are accessible and appropriate spaces for camping and vehicle access, whilst protecting and conserving the environment and sites of cultural significance.

Greening up our city

Aaron, Marq, and Tim installing the cages along the McDouall extension
Whyalla was one of two cities that received funding from the Greener Neighbourhoods grants program early this year.
200 gum trees have recently been planted along the McDouall Stuart Avenue extension not only to beautify the entrance to the city but to provide a green canopy and assist to reduce urban heat.
Aaron, Marq and Tim from our Open Spaces team are currently out installing cages to protect the trees until they are well established.
Further work will be done in the area to install soakage trenches to enable sustainable watering from stormwater.
